After a long three year losing streak to Barcelona, Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu defeated the visiting team 2 - 1 with goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo which helped them win the Spanish Super Cup. After coming into this game being down 3 - 2, Real Madrid played a great first half, kept calm, kept the ball moving and even kept the pressure on Barcelona despite a great freekick goal by Messi. Barca with 10 people on the pitch (Adriano got red carded) came out in the 2nd half playing their usual game but Madrid kept the defense and pressure up and got the win.
