A couple of days ago I got the chance to chop it up with the brozay Eric. Eric is an up and coming film director out of Palm Bay FL. Eric has slowly but surely been making moves within the last two years or so, with his company on the rise Caveman Spaceman Films and also contributing to Crack T.V as well. You can say that he has a bright future ahead of him. He let me pick his head alittle from his favorite movies to how he got started and his latest project which involves putting his city on the map. Check out our interview!

How do you usually approach your ideas for videos?I can only write and come up with ideas if I'm completely alone, I'll just sit there and listen to music until my hand starts writing.
How do you keep your videos looking different and original
I watch all different types of movies, different genres of music to always see and hear new things. If I film something then I'll make sure my next project is far from it, change the content or use objects instead of people.
Top 3 favorite movies ever?
I don't really have a favorite anything, but some good films are 'There Will be Blood', 'Gummo' is pretty dope, 'Eraserhead' is probably the craziest movie I've seen.
Wes Anderson is the man, the Cohen brothers, of course Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson. The Shaw brothers have some of the best kung-fu flicks.Top 5 favorite directors?
What made you get into filming?
Watching a movie was the only thing that could really keep my attention, so I think overtime I just told myself to make my own.
At what age did you decide that this is what you wanted to do?
Probably in 10th grade I realized that I wanted to start directing. My friend Chris Stelzer and I had the same passion for movies so we started together.
How would you define the actual role that a director is supposed to fill?
The director is somewhat like the quarterback. He tells the actors how the lines should be portrayed, the feel and tone of each scene. He puts everyone in the right place.
What are some qualities in yourself that make you suitable fore film directing?
The qualities of a director is actually the opposite of how I really am. I'm not good with talking to people and I get really nervous when the attention is on me, which is why I like to be behind the camera.
When did film making cross from a hobby to something more serious?
Last year in November, I released three short films which I directed with Chris. We made them for fun, just to see how well we could do. Many people liked them, they all got over 500 views each on there separate release days. That's when we realized that we might have something here
How many short films have you made?
There are 5 that have been put out, some others that we are currently working on.
Which one is your favorite out of all of them?
I would say my worst short film and my best short are the same. The first short I made is called 'I love you & goodbye'. The quality is really bad because I didn't really know how to use my camera, but it is the most creative of all the ones I've done.
What camera are you currently use?
I have a Canon Rebel T3i, with a Rode Video mic for audio.
When do story lines usually hit you?
All the ideas for my shorts were either thought of in my room or DeGroodt library. That library is like a sanctuary to me, it's just very peaceful and quite. When I'm out going through my day, no ideas really come to me because there is just too much going on to think.
What are the most difficult things about directing or shooting a short film?
The hardest thing is the number of people you have to count on. If you're filming a scene with two people and one doesn't show up, then the whole day is shot. It's frustrating having to depend on so many people.
What projects are you currently working on now?
Right now I'm working on three short films, and my next big project is an internet T.V. show called 'Palm Bay blows', based in my town. It's made up of skits, interviews and shorts which will all be based in Palm Bay
What can you tell us about Caveman Spaceman Films?
Caveman Spaceman was originally called 'Dead Dreams', but Chris and I decided to change the name. We are the ones who started it and continue to work together.
Hopefully we put out enough good short films to get a strong following, maybe win some film festivals. The goal is to pay the bills with what we film.Where do you see yourself going with Caveman Spaceman?
