XXL Freshmen 13'

It's that time of year when XXL Magazine starts putting the candidates for the Freshmen of 2013 cover together. I'm at the coziest place ever right now so I decided to put together my picks for the candidates in my opinion.

Young Roddy

Over the last years since he got one with Curren$y and his Jet Life Records, Roddy  has been stepping up his bars, flow, and stage presence immensely. With his first mixtape Good Sense Roddy proved that he can hold his own weight  and co pilot own the team and as spitta's right hand man.

Schoolboy Q & Ab Soul

Well, where do I start with these two. Not only are they part of one of the toughest rap groups in this new generation but they also play a big part in the game themselves. Both artist dropped a project this year (Habits & Contradictions, Control System) that set the standards high for fellow Black Hippy Member Kendrick Lamar. There is no doubt in my mind that both Puffy and Solo deserve to be on this year's XXL Freshmen 13'.

Action Bronson

The baked chef has been grinding hard all year out, going from being a line cook to now in my opinion one of the illest mc's out of New York. His creative wordplay and latest project have proved that he is on of the top candidates for this years cover.

A$AP Rocky

Honestly I think there's not much to be said that you wouldn't know already about Rocky and his team, and work ethic. If he's not on this years cover, it's all bullshit.

Fat Trel

The DMV's hardest mc is by far the fat fool Fat Trel.. Don't argue with me. This year he's been touring, dropping mixtapes, and putting his team "The Sluttyboyz" on the map. He is defiantly one of MY top picks for the cover.

Joey Bada$$

Going from being in High School to now performing over seas, with the debut of his first mixtape "1999" Joey is bringing that lyricism that people like myself have missed for so long. 2012 was a crazy year for Joey & I don't see him stopping anytime soon.

Smoke DZA

I can sit here and write about all the reasons why Smoke deserves to be on that cover but I'm sure that y'all already know, and if you don't know you better catch up to the jet. Rrrrrrrrrrighttttttttt

Chief Keef

Sosa has been everywhere since last year.. Literally. Now signed with Interscope, Cheif has been dropping features left and write hooking up with some of the biggest names in the industry. Along with his GBE team and his main producer Young Chop, Chief Keef is going to keep on buzzing hard (let's just hope he stays out of jail).

Troy Ave

My nigga Harry Powder has been grinding his ass off yhese last 2-3 years! This year he dropped the third installment of the Harry Powder trilogy "Bricks In My Backpack 3", which has been a viral success. By far one of my top picks for the cover. His work, team, and street cred speak for themselves.
